WELCOME HOME
Hillcrest Community Cooperative is a resident-owned manufactured home community in Clarks Grove, Minn. We are a terrific neighborhood for people who prefer a small community close to larger cities. Situated only five minutes from Albert Lea, Hillcrest is an easy drive to Rochester and the Twin Cities. We offer a quiet, friendly community in a convenient location and we sit just minutes from I-35 and I-90. Interested in outdoor activities? Geneva Lake, known for fishing bluegill and observing fall and spring waterfowl migrations, is just four miles away. Myre-Big Island State Park is 10 miles from Hillcrest and offers low wetlands, oak savanna and grasslands. Albert Lea is known as the Land Between the Lakes and offers vibrant outdoor activities year-round.
Hillcrest Community Cooperative is owned by the community Members who live here – we are a resident-owned community (ROC). That means we control the rent and make the rules. On Nov. 18, 2015, the ROC purchased the land and infrastructure, such as the roads and water lines. Now, a democratically elected Board of Directors manages the business of running Hillcrest. Every Member household in the community has a say in who sits on the Board, how we spend our money, the annual budget, and whether we make changes to the rent.
We're also part of a national network of nearly 200 ROCs just like us. That membership provides us with access to expert coaching on how to run our ROC, leadership development and training, communication with dozens of community leaders who face many of the same issues we do, and more. Life in Hillcrest Community Cooperative is truly different than in a commercially owned community – we invite you to find out firsthand how that difference makes living here so much better.
